The Rutgers Association of Philippine Students was established by Filipino American students at the Rutgers University, New Brunswick campus in 1987. The organization works to promote unity, cooperation, and friendship amongst students with a common interest in the Filipino culture, history, current issues and the uniqueness of the Fil-Am lifestyle.

At our bi-weekly meetings throughout the school year we have varying activites including discussion forums, Filipino "scary" movie night, Filipino Jeopardy, and the ever popular line dancing meeting. Throughout the year, we plan off-campus activities such as bowling, the annual ski-trip, and dessert night. Our organizationalso participates in activities with other colleges in our area and nationally at our annual Battle of the Barrios and road trips to FIND events. As the year goes by, we hope to see new ideas flourish, understanding grow, and friendships blossom. We represents the tagalog word
bayanihan which means family. Come and be part of our family!

Halo Haloween

The Halo-Halloween is a charity event for the Bantay Bata Association, in order to help abused and starving children in the Philippines. It's a showcase of Filipino talent to the Rutgers Community, having performances ranging from cultural to hip-hop. With a costume contest to engage you with your halo-halo, remember to eat slowly. Brain freeze hurts.

Halo Haloween was a success. Thanks to all who attended and participated. The show sold out right before the show even started. There were great performances which included hiphop dance, bands, singing, and a most entertaining Costume Contest.
